Chromatographic Separation of Allylic Alcohols on Silicic Acid Columns: Analysis of the Nonsaponifiable Lipids of an Ascites Tumor Derived from a Benzpyrene-induced Sarcoma.

چکیده
s i l i c i c acid column chromatography has proved very useful in the separation and isolation of many of the sterols found in the nonsaponifiable fraction of lipid mixtures (1-8). In the course of an investigation of the nonsaponifiable lipids formed from mevalonic acid-C14 by a rat ascites tumor, a highly radioactive fraction was isolated by chromatography 011 silicic acid. This fraction was shown to contain a large amount of radioactive trans-trans-farnesol. This finding stimulated an investigation of the chromatographic behavior of some other allylic alcohols on silicic acid columns.

Application of "high-performance" liquid chromatography to the study of sphingolipidoses.
Quantitative high-performance liquid chromatographic analysis of perbenzoylated sphingolipids has been used to study the correlations of body chemistry to clinical phenomena. Plasma sphingolipids were isolated from 32 Gaucher (beta-glucosidase deficiency) and six Fabry (alpha-galactosidase deficiency) patients by solvent partition and chromatographic separation on silicic acid columns. Plasma s...
متن کاملGradient-thickness thin-layer chromatography for the isolation and analysis of trace amounts of free fatty acids in large lipid samples.
A thin-layer chromatographic method for quantitative isolation of free fatty acids is described. This method appears to be more satisfactory than existing methods in offering the combination of advantages of specificity, simplicity, rapidity, reproducibility, accuracy, high sensitivity, and applicability as a preparative technique. The method involves chromatography on a thin-layer plate on whi...

The laboratory preparation of 20-methylcholanthrene from desoxycholic acid by Wieland and Dane (20) in 1933 encouraged speculation concerning the role that polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons might play as endogenous carcinogenic agents, but in the succeeding decade progress in the characterization of endogenous chemical carcinogens has been extremely slow. Several investigators have attempted to...
متن کاملSeparation of plasma lipids by thin-layer chromatography.
A rapid comprehensive thin-layer chromatographic separation of the major plasma lipid classes on commercial silicic acid glass fiber paper is described. For screening purposes, oxidized fractions are rapidly visualized for qualitative interpretation. Standard colorimetric procedures for each lipid class are per formed upon the migration areas cut from the strips. This provides quantitative mea...
متن کاملSeparation of Glycosyl Diglycerides from Phosphatides Using Silicic Acid Column Chromatography.
A procedure has been developed for the separation of the glycosyl diglycerides from the phosphatides of Gram-positive bacteria on columns of silicic acid. The method utilizes mixtures of acetone in chloroform for elution of the glycosyl diglycerides, followed by increasing amounts of methanol in chloroform for elution of the phosphatides. The course of the fractionation was followed by means of...
